@Tasha : farmed here for clover and ale last week end, using a barrage like build. Got about 100 charr carving until my inventory was full of blue armor / purple items and had to rezone (took about 1H). It granted about 30-40 event item / H.
You should try your build outside LA : caromis drops some gold items, feathers ($$$), and 1 caromi scalp = 1 ghost in the box @Halloween.
Didn't try grawl, but i will for the easter because more than 2 hours of farming in the same place is boring.
To summary my ranger spots :
- flamme corridor
- caromis & fire imps outisde LA
- snowmen (chests + mass aggro), snowman's lair is ranger's lair (50-60 event items / hour)
=> next one is grawl :P
EDIT @ mystic bella : 130 HP with protective spirit, shielding hand, shield of absorption, smite condition, shield of judgement, balthazar's aura, blessed aura, balthazar's spirit.

Quick question:
Is there a difference between holiday item drop rates in NM and HM?
I note in a post further up that GoK was listed as HM, Raptors as HM & NM. Is that because the drop rates change in HM or purely because the other rewards farming that area are better in HM overall.
If there is no change in drops then I will do GoK in NM because its much faster and I only want the holiday items and am not worried about other drops.

Here is a build I tried out for a monk. Its your typical 600/smite duo, takes a little timing and practice.
Mantra Of Resolve
PS
SoA
Spirit Bond
Spell Breaker (not really need for raptor cave)
Balts Spirit
Blessed Aura
Essence Bond
Equipment: 20/20 Recharge on Spells or Droks Staff with 20% enchantments
Template Codes:
600: OwUS8YIPRg6xdVLGRkHAE9B
Smite: OwQDQjzPHpEA3Rmhke5DfA
I cast PS, SoA before aggro. Cast Mantra Spirit Bond upon agro. Spam Spirit Bond since it will go down fast and recast Mantra as soon as recharged. It takes some practice since you could get or will get interupted.
Maybe not the best buid for this, but it works for me. I have tried several 55 builds and didnt have much success.

I've used similar but different builds outside LA, orignally a Barrage build with Mending and Essence bond waaay back in my newbie Prophecies only days when I needed charcoal for some monk armor. I'm now using an Ursan build (OgETU1riXyo8WkmMAA1Q5I5QAAA) either alongside a monk hero (Just a normal Healer's Boon one) or with my boyfriend playing N/Rt healer with Ursan. Question comes as to whether its better to keep the scalps for Halloween or salvage them for feathers - I suspect with the current feather prices that salvaging would be better unless you're Party Animal headed .
As for the grawl... I did it A LOT on my ranger the first Wintersday, farming over 500 candy canes but as templates weren't around then I don't have a build saved. The last two years my ele has taken that farming spot due to the mass aoe and alike. I probably won't farm there this weekend because I get so frustrated with the slowdowns which make it harder to group everything up.
I finished up my Delver title last weekend farming ales so that won't be showing up on my list, but it is highly recommended if you're a title hunter as you can work on about 6 titles at once (Delver, Treasure Hunter, Wisdom Seeker, Drunkard, Sweet Tooth and Party Animal). Your event drops seem a lot higher than mine - guess we know who the lucky Easter bunny is
@ SkelnB: I don't think there is a drop rate difference between HM and NM. If its any evidence to this, I spent last weekend almost totally in HM and only recieved about 40 ales. Hate to know what the drop rate would be like on NM if there were a difference :/

Tyria is a continent. Cantha is a continent. Elona is a continent.

To clear up any confusion:
Tyria is a continent, but also the planet that Guildwars takes place on.
Tyria (When mentioned in events) Means Tyria+Cantha+Elona.

Something that works for every profession: "Kilroy Stonekin's Punch-Out Extravaganza!". In HM, you get 2 ales, event items, at least 250 gold (reward; average was about 1k a run for me), 150 dwarf reputation, random tomes (mostly (elite) warrior tomes), runes & insignias and a LOT of xp (for consumables or survivor title). All this in under 12 minutes. It's not the best area, but it works for any profession and is safe for survivors.
Edit: By the way, you can delete your post, Tundra, if you didn't mean to post...

Very few builds can farm the raptors in HM, all of them at least.
A 55 cannot farm the raptors in NM or HM as I know of. (someone will probably post one after this)
The reason for this is that Rekoff Broodmother uses Twisting Jaws, a skill that goes through every possible form of protection, including Shafowform, Spellbreaker, Protective Spirit and Spirit Bond, without triggering its healing. Twisting Jaws does 120 life stealing dmg, inflicts Deep Wound (up to 100dmg) and causes the target to bleed.
So thats up to 220dmg right there & 6 health degeneration.
